Key Account Director - Central Region

The Key Accounts Sales Director (KAD) is responsible for managing and growing sales volume through management of the company’s sales team and development of national key accounts within Canada.  The sustainable development of the Key Accounts business with the aim of making RATIONAL the Partner of Choice by delivering tangible customer benefits.  The KAD will fill the Pipeline through the selection and identification of Key Accounts within the territory where RATIONAL can deliver tangible customer benefits.  They will also introduce RATIONAL products and services to future National Key Account customers, leading, maintaining and developing long term relationships with both existing and new Key Account customers to grow sales volume.  In addition, the KAD will cooperate with Street and Regional KA teams and form strong working relationships with our business partners to further develop Key Accounts.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Work within structured sales approach to meet activity targets to increase customer base of new accounts into the Key Accounts Pipeline. 
  • Conduct customer presentations and participate in cooking events.
  • Manage lab and field tests to ensure opportunities are successfully converted into sales.
  • Negotiate contract pricing to secure sale at profit objectives and participate in closing strategic opportunities
  • Manage selected National Key Account customers to maximize account opportunities and assure lifetime customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and develop strategic business partners and multipliers, distributors/dealers, and consultants
  • Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interaction into CRM software.
  • Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team and other company functions.
  • Work closely with the marketing function to establish successful channel and key account programs.
  • Regularly provide accurate forecasts and business updates and participate in business strategic planning at local and global levels.
  • Increase customer base of new unit sales by supporting the Street sales team with their Key Accounts.
  • Monitor and report to executive management on sales team and key account issues.
  • Participate in or assist partners with regional trade shows and events when needed.

 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building capability.
  • Ability to work in cross functional, team oriented, and results driven organization.
  • Ability to work within a structured sales process and understands and practices the concept of Strategic Selling 
  • Self-starter, detail oriented and able to work independently.
  • Ability to find opportunities and understand customer’s needs
  • Bachelor’s degree in business and/or marketing preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 5 - 7 years of previous sales, sales management or business development experience 
  • 2 - 3 years supervisory experience 
  • Previous culinary experience or strong interest in cooking 
  • Experience with key account management 
  • Skilled in the presentation of technically sophisticated manufactured goods 
  • Excellent computer skills (Outlook, Salesforce or other CRM system, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Map Point) 
  • At least 60% domestic travel required, typically including continuous overnight stays; ideal candidates will be located near a major airport hub.  Occasional international travel also required.
