Summary:
The Regional Sales Director is responsible for managing and growing sales volume through management of the company’s sales team and development of the partner network within multi-state territories. The RSD must work within structured sales approach to enable the sales team to meet their activity targets. The RSD is not responsible for new sales as an individual contributor, but will increase the customer base of new unit sales by effectively coaching and developing the sales team, monitoring sales activities, and working with internal partners to ensure quality cooking demonstrations throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coaching and personal development of team members.
- Identify, secure and develop strategic business partners and multipliers, including independent rep organizations, distributors/dealers, etc, including initial and follow up visits with partners to promote activities and drive sales.
- Coordinate with other internal partners to ensure customer satisfaction with RATIONAL equipment for elevated customer service issues.
- Participate in or assist partners with regional trade shows and events.
- Monitor and report to executive management on sales team and partner issues based on activity data from CRM software.
- Plan and record activities for all open business opportunities in CRM software.
- Coaching and development of sales team on RCL performance and progress.
- Will direct activities of 4-8 regional sales managers
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building capability
- Ability to work in cross functional, team oriented, and results driven organization
- Ability to work within a structured sales process
- Self starter, detail oriented and able to work independently.
- Bachelor’s degree in business and/or marketing preferred
- 5 - 7 years of previous sales, sales management or business development experience
- 2 - 3 years supervisory experience
- Previous culinary experience or strong interest in cooking
- Experience with small chain or national account management
- Skilled in the presentation of technically sophisticated manufactured goods
- Excellent computer skills (Outlook, SIEBEL (or other CRM system), Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Map Point, Salesforce)
Physical demands:

Demands are the ability to drive in metropolitan city traffic, walk and take mass transit in metropolitan areas as needed, move easily in and out of a vehicle, move easily in a food service kitchen environment, shop and prepare food for demonstration and consumption, operate cooking equipment, perform data entry and administrative tasks on a computer and/or smartphone, and be able to lift 40 pounds.
Work environment:
Home office space required in the assigned territory. Regional Sales Manager works a minimum of 4.5 days per week in the field with adequate time for preplanning, phone calls, follow up and CRM input. Vehicle must be clean and reliable with sufficient trunk space to carry all sales and marketing tools necessary. Must have a valid driver’s license and appropriate automobile insurance. At least 60% travel required, typically including continuous overnight stays. Occasional international travel.
Compensation:
The starting salary range for this position is $130,000 - $140,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications and may vary by geographical location. Compensation for this position also includes a bonus.
