Rework Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

The Rework Supervisor manages the Rework process from our Elgin, Illinois distribution center, where the primary responsibility is to repair units to RATIONAL specifications and keep a detail-oriented record of such repairs. This role also includes managing tradeshow preparation by facilitating the work needed to meet the marketing plan.  In addition, this position will coordinate stacking assembly per customer requirements in a manner consistent with RATIONAL USA’s philosophy, goals, and objectives. The Supervisor must be able to communicate, both verbally and in writing effectively, technical details concerning RATIONAL USA equipment, accessories, consumables, and spare parts to support customers, internal staff, and our business partners.  They are responsible for coordinating rework processing in a timely manner as required by business needs, with the assistance of the rework team. 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Performs complex work in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining RATIONAL equipment, including iCombi, iVario, and UltraVent.
  • Coordinate preparing and crating cooking systems as requested for client needs and tradeshows.
  • Assess and estimate costs of repair of freight-damaged goods.
  • Data entry of completed repair projects and parts used.
  • Address customer complaints, questions, and concerns.
  • Work with Standard Operating Procedures for assembly and stacking.
  • Work with the Quality Manager to lead retrofit projects performed at the distribution center. 
  • Assists in the procurement of equipment and materials, supplies, and parts required to perform repairs.
  • Assist in the procurement of equipment and materials, supplies, and parts required for tradeshow preparation.
  • Work with 3rd party storage partner to store and maintain non-RATIONAL equipment necessary for tradeshows.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the shop area.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Electronics from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience with high voltage components, knowledge of gas equipment, and understanding of the fundamentals of electrical wiring diagrams.

 

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of office automation tools such as E-Mail, MS Office, Windows, Excel, Word
  • Ability to read electrical wiring schematics. 
  • Knowledge of gas control systems.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic tools such as electrical meters, flue gas analyzers, handheld power tools


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 2-3 full-time and occasional temporary staff during peak times
  • Oversee vacation planning and workload management and conduct performance evaluations
  • Work with Director for hiring, firing, and disciplinary decisions

 

REQUIRED LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Fluency in English is required, with the following skills.  Spanish or German is a plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to read and consult on Customer compliance manuals.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.


REQUIRED MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts and enter them into a freight damage sheet.
  • REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Must be forklift certified.
